How it works
Once a minute our server reads the top 10 matches from the Lichess broadcast and has an engine look at each new position for a second, and this page updates itself with it: no need to reload. The pill at a board’s right edge is White’s share of the expected score on top and Black’s below, as on Lichess; the number under it is the eval in pawns from White’s side, # a mate. A match’s expected score adds up the boards: decided ones at their result, running ones on Lichess’s winning-chances curve. It is an expected score, not a chance to win the match.
Evals by Stockfish, the free and open-source chess engine (GPL-3.0), run on our own server. They are for this page only: every number and award elsewhere on the site keeps Lichess’s analysis of the finished games. The broadcast itself can run behind the boards in Samarkand. More on the About page.
